I have not been doing a great job of updating you all with all of the amazing things we have done this past school year. So here is a little photo dump with some of the highlights which include but are not limited to
Excited to be volunteering again with the STEM Professional School Partnership Program sponsored through science ATL. Looking forward to working this year with Mrs. Brooks from Woodward Elementary School.
I had so much fun meeting with the 5th graders from Harper Field Elementary School today! I sent them a video a week in advance where I talked about my research and biomedical engineering. We spent the first half of our time doing a Q&A session where they asked me about being a biomedical engineer. Then we did an EMG demo using one of the backyard brain kits! They then went back to their class rooms to work on making their own DIY leg prosthetics.
Picture day was today, to show off our new girls who code shirts! Only 3 out of the 11 members were able to make it to todays meeting, we'll have to redo pictures sometime in the spring!
Excited to announce that I will be working along side Ms. Robertson at Cobb County Innovation Center as a Girls Who Code Club Facilitator. Over the course of this year the girls (and boys) will be working in python to create their very own chatbot. I'm happy to be able to share my skills and get them excited about coding!
Excited to have been accepted into Science ATL’s STEM Professional School Partnership (SPSP) Program! As a “Catalyst” - an agent that enables a reaction that might not otherwise have taken place - me and my partner STEM Professional will work together to initiate at least eight (8) innovative interactions over the course of a school year. This year, I've been paired with Reyna Jones, from Hightower Elementary School in the DeKalb School District!
